Initial ideas- Martha

These are some quick sketches to illustrate my initial ideas. The more detailed headphones idea is the one I wish to develop.

Poster Evaluation- Martha

While considering how to construct our posters i noticed a number of similarities between the company 'Orange Mobile' and us. It was initially the colour theme that I noticed, however the free style is also similar to ours and although they are not a music company I shall also look to their advert for inspiration as they are very eye-catching and effective. The strong used of black and unusual shape grabs the onlookers attention. The simple use of orange and black with a small amount of white looks very modern and cool and would also work well within the rock genre.

The second image is the Rolling Stones (another rock bands) advertisment. I like the humour and new take on a classic product with 'Wash thoroughly'. I think the large text looks really effective and would like to relay this into my own product. This poster is clearly aimed at the Rock genre and we see the symbolic toungue, sterotypical swearing and the traditional use of black, red and white. The strong lines reflect the strong, masculine genre.

The Final Digipak- Martha

Josh's Magazine Advert 1st layout

I have done a lot more work on my magazine advert and have taken on board a lot more from the advert I analysed. I realised if I was to create a simple advert, in the theme of stage fright, I would have to make sure I didn't miss any important information out. The use of colours in this photo are also perfect to create the sense of band practice that they haven't turned upto, which is important in the concept of 'Stage Fright'. I have made sure that all the information that is important is on the advert. I have included a record company logo and review. This advert looks much more like it would be in a magazine.

Josh's Band Shooting

I have been working on getting the filming of the band perfect. To do this I have taken some test shots of angles using toy insturments to make it easier to play around with positioning.

These have been really helpfull and will influence the way I shoot the live band.

Josh- Filming the band finally

I have managed to get hold of all the kit to set up a band and am going to set my garage out to look like a live venue or band practice. This will give me total control over the lighting and camera angles as I will be using my friends and have access to flood lights. I will put some pictures up of the process soon.

The Props will include:
A guitar
A bass guitar
A drum kit
A microphone
Rock and Roll clothes

We will also need to use:
Cameras
Flood lights
Music (to ensure the lyrics are in sync)

Josh's Magazine photos edited

I have edited the images of the microphone to make them look more professional.

I varied theses effects from grainy, old rock style camera shots. I found these to be a little to gritty for the genre.

Then to quite artistic oil painting effects. This worked well, but not great in the aspect of the conventions of the genre and may alienate the audience.

I then used a brightening effect, using a gloss on the image which adds a professional feel. I will practice my layout style and then add the effects.
